![]() This also means that any card you get has some “trade” value regardless of how much it is used in decks. However, since cards of the same rarity will (supposedly) be worth the same value, top-tier V/VMAX cards should be much more obtainable. In general, you will have to give away more cards to get the cards you want in lieu of a fair trade in the current system. While not perfect, I do think the upcoming dusting/crafting system is an improvement over the current system. Honestly, it has gotten to the point to where it’s not even worth the time to look through the acceptable trades because so many people are trying to “steal” my cards. Not to mention the headache of sifting through the public trade boards looking for fair trades to accept in a sea of trades where the people who placed the trades got way too greedy. For acquiring the top-tier V/VAX cards, you’ve better be prepared to fork over other top-tier or ultra/secret rare cards or 10+ unopened packs, or else forget it. And of those trade-worthy cards (i.e staple Trainers), your going to need 3 or 4 of those for yourself to build your decks, so you can only really trade them away if you have extras. Because the current PTCGO economy is well separated from the real world economy (i.e. The current system is actually pretty poor. Now we both have 1 of each for our collections! ).īack to Pokémon, I agree with the direction of axing the current trading system with a dusting/crafting system. So I trade 1 of my Card As for 1 of his Card Bs. Dave has none of Card A, but 2 of Card B. I have 2 of Card A, but don’t have any of Card B. My friend Dave and I both collect baseball cards and are trying to complete the latest set. It seems “Trading” is a more marketing friendly term because it highlights the social aspect of the hobby (e.g. They’ve been calling them trading cards going back to when collecting sports cards was a hobby. The instruction manuals they print for the products even mention these are collectable cards. ![]() So “Pokémon Trading Card Game” actually means “a game where you play with collectable cards that feature Pokémon”. By “Trading” they really mean “Collectable”. I think people are getting too caught-up with the word “Trading”.
